Next SNS to take over

What, defending the IC from people trying to destroy it? That’s all Im doing.

There are better ways adam. Youre hurting their pockets (and your own)

But youre risking losing the crowd. Its impossible to support such actions.

Please stop.

I would implore that you:

  1. Cease this dos/cycle attack.

  2. return the funds to the Trax treasury

Before you dig yourself any deeper. I support your cause, but I cannot condone the actions you are taking.

There are better ways.

To the readers out there:
if you dont like WTN. Nobody is forcing you to buy nICP. Dump your tokens and tell all your friends that theyre buying nachos.

It’s surprising that Adam didn’t invest in WTN—I honestly expected him to scoop up the entire swap as soon as it went live. We even discussed this possibility in the forum. The time for these conversations was well before the WTN SNS launch, and we had multiple threads actively debating it.

At this point, the most productive path forward might just be to build another liquid staking solution and compete by offering a better service.

I was actually against this type of app/design, but the Foundation pushed it forward. As far as I know, there’s a limit on how much ICP can be held in canisters—that effectively sets the cap. In the end, it’s pretty similar to how liquid staking works in other ecosystems.

I wish more of your peers would say the same and call this thing out for what it is.

I find it very interesting that some of my posts are allowed very quickly and some are not. Guess big brother is running the show today.

Note that it’s quite different than calling them sca***ers. They are just rational actors and the dapp was allowed by the foundation to exist, in fact the feature to hold ICP in canisters was released synchronised with WTN launch.

I dint call it a s*** i called it a pyramid.

Meaning its a financial instrument that rather than creating value, and returning that value to participants. derives it from newer participants to transfer it to older ones.

Fair enough, but that is pretty normal in crypto and some people would even call it “good tokenomics” instead.

I would call it evil.

Again, the foundation was all in on this. So I don’t think you can call one without the other.

Back in the days, we tried our best to try to stop it and instead implement what Infu is saying now. But we are just little fishes without much insider knowledge/leverage.

So who put in the 200k ICP at the end of the Papaya sale for WaterNeuron if it wasn’t Adam? Was it DFINITY in order to keep voting power?

Why is Adam attacking WaterNeuron which I have a sizable investment in (for me that is)? I thought liquid staking on ICP was very important to the eco? And isn’t the WaterNeuron team also working on bringing Lending & Borrowing to ICP as well? Aren’t they are decent team of devs?

Also, why did Adam pillage the Trax treasury in particular? It wasn’t my intention to have this happen in case you are reading this Tom. I was simply unhappy with your lack of updates and unresponsiveness. I wanted to send you feedback about bug reports and you never answer emails or OpenChat questions or anything. It’s terrible and there are quite a few bugs and problems with Trax and the interface… Also where is the mobile app that was promised? And what is the plan to finally get some traffic because it is totally dead.

Hello, I’m sorry you are unhappy with our “lack of updates” and unresponsiveness.

I’ll address some of your points and concerns below but if you would prefer to discuss anything privately please feel free to message me on X or Telegram (using the same username).

I’m not going to address anything relating to the treasury activity as it has been addressed by Adam and Donna in their latest thread.

1. Lack of updates

I’m a little disappointed you feel we don’t consistently update the platform or community. In truth, we are working every day on improving the platform, adding new features requested by our users and onboarding new artists. I would invite you to read our write-up of platform and growth updates from Q1 TraxDAO/sns/TRAX_Q2_Proposal.md at main · onlyontrax/TraxDAO · GitHub

We have a smaller team than some other projects but I can safely say that our developers are consistently working hard to improve the platform and its features. I’m aware there are still some bugs, we will continue to work to remedy these but in general, I would argue the platform is in a much better position than it was a few months ago.

Below, to give some evidence to my point - our two core developers commit multiple times a week and we have recently welcomed a new developer talent to the TRAX team.

2. Traffic & adoption

Whilst I would agree we still have a long way to go before one could consider TRAX to be a mass-adopted platform, the assertion that we are “dead” with “no traffic” isn’t an accurate reflection. Given the current crypto climate, it hasn’t made sense to spend as heavily on marketing as we did compared to last year for example. These numbers may not be particularly impressive but are entirely organic. In Q1, we had 13k active users with 50k views to content across the platform.

We also worked with a number of more premier music artists in some meaningful ways:

  • Alt-rap pioneer Polo Perks (30k Insta; 55k Spotify) - TRAX
  • London bedroom pop sensation Jimothy Lacoste (102k Insta; 51k Spotify) - TRAX and TRAX
  • Indie staple White Lies (78k Insta; 736k Spotify) - TRAX
  • Ongoing collaboration with Red Light Management — home to 350+ artists globally

The White Lies release in particular was a real success as it was the first project which generated meaningful revenue - 150+ members of their fan club visited TRAX and purchased the content for $5. This is a great step forwards as it proves we do have a business model that can scale.

Prior to this we focussed more heavily on hip-hop artists with collaborations with Goldlink, Blanco and Kenny Allstar with whom we invested heavily - I can say that some mistakes were made with these marketing partnerships (some of which where we were purely scammed by artists not delivering on promotion they agreed to) but we feel we have learnt from these going forwards.

2. Feedback on bug reports

This would be very helpful and I hope you share these with us but I can’t find any emails or messages from you about these. Can you let me know where you’ve shared these?

3. OpenChat

I set up the OpenChat group using an Internet Identity I have since lost access to but I do check in occasionally. In some ways, I prefer to leave this community as a place for ICP native users to have a fully decentralised and un-moderated communication channel but if you would prefer we also be active here, I am happy to take that feedback onboard. In truth, we are far more active on other channels - Instagram being our most active (TRAX (@trax.so) • Instagram photos and videos) as that is where artists (our primary audience) typically spend their time, we are also active on X (x.com/trax_so) and have Telegram and Discord communities as well as a very enthusiastic Zealy community which we used to onboard 700+ new degens to ICP in Q1!

4. Mobile app

The mobile app has been live on Android for some months now - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trax.trax&hl=en_GB

The Apple App Store listing is proving an immense hurdle admittedly. They have countless rules and requirements that necessitate wide-scale changes to our existing application incl. changes to the payment gateways, removal of cryptocurrencies etc. It is taking longer than any of us had hoped but I feel we are fairly close to successfully listing. Based on the latest round of feedback received, we have a few minor issues left to remedy and hopefully, once these are out of the way, we will be allowed to list on iOS.

It also goes without saying that Apple’s App Store payment rules interfere directly with our business model. They enforce a 30% take on all transactions which severely harms the 90/10 revenue split we offer in favour of artists on our platform.

5. Final comments

I appreciate the criticism and hope the above replies go some way to remedying your discontent. The truth is developing a new music platform and having it adopted in a meaningful way by the industry is an uphill battle. We have learnt a great deal over the last 2 years and continue to develop TRAX with one goal in mind - a better platform for music artists to release exclusive music and content that offers fairer compensation and better tools to capture data on their audience.

Please feel free to reply here or contact me with anything else. Onwards and upwards!

Tom, that is a very good update and thank you for taking the time. I guess I’ve been looking in the wrong places to send you feedback but yeah it is a little confusing to have an OpenChat for Trax and to not be active on it or to have your email listed on Trax and not reply to it or have your emails bouncing. I do believe it would be a good idea to try to promote your OpenChat more since it is an IC product but I understand why you are where you need to be right now. That’s fine. Just please make people aware on OpenChat that you are not active on it and that your email is not reachable. Make it apparent as to where everyone should contact your team for feedback esp. artists.

I will check out the Android app and I will send you my feedback regarding the Trax web dapp as I have been using it for quite awhile now and have uploaded a lot of material on it and I have a bunch of notes on it. I do see progress on the dapp itself which is good to see but traffic wise there needs to be a new strategy in place and a more concerted marketing effort to attract users imo. You are right that the music biz is extremely difficult to crack – you almost have to pay for the users in the beginning – but there must be several angles here as to why users, not just artists, would need or want to utilize Trax. Obviously a major artist coming exclusively to Trax would jump start it all. If only Taylor Swift could be convinced to leave Spotify who’s ripping her off for Trax and force all of her Swifties to move over. Then you’d bring down not only the Trax dapp but also the entire IC I’m sure.

Good to hear about the progress on the Apple app despite the headaches. I’m sure the artists will understand the revenue decrease for Apple originated sales. Something is better than nothing. The Apple traffic should help a little bit.

Adam, what are your thoughts about this timely Trax update and when do you plan on paying back the Trax DAO by the way since they are cash strapped to begin with?

I’m a man of my word, they’ll get the ICP back, but that’s none of your business sorry..

Good enough. Have a good one Adam and Godspeed on Dragginz… I think your game will really help the IC once it is finally out. Lead by example and bring the gamers/users…
