Last week we celebrated with ICP Hub Egypt a real milestone.
Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority: the body that oversees the country’s capital markets, listed companies, funds, and insurers; opened its doors for the first time to a Web3 protocol and a hackathon.
The World Computer Hacker League brought builders from Cairo to pitch directly inside the FRA headquarters. Government leadership was there; investors were there; so were our community of builders; some writing Motoko for the first time, others with years of experience on ICP.
It wasn’t just a showcase; it was real adoption in motion, happening inside the largest country in MENA and North Africa.
Projects ranged from tokenized fund infra to SocialFi platforms to AI agent coordination systems. Builders solving real life problems on the ground.
This was brought together by ICP Hub Egypt with support from Egypt’s Web3 ecosystem.
Below is a quick teaser from the event; full documentary dropping soon, including footage with the FRA chairman: who also sits on the board of Egypt’s central bank.
