It just occurred to me that if neurons could be congifured to share X% of their maturity with the neurons that they’re following (rather than that percentage being fixed), there would be a number of benefits:

  • Users could opt out
  • It would essentially be like tipping, and each user could decide what the right amount feels like for them
  • Some neurons could be set to share 100%,
    1. thereby making NF neuron maturity accessible to a user by setting it to follow a neuron that they control (rather than just having a hotkey)
    2. also makes D-QUORUM maturity accessible to elected followees
    3. also makes NP neurons (with potential for slashing) feasible

By implementing reward cascades in an adjustable way, lots of other things become feasible, including representative democracy.
