The fix is not in dfx 0.29.0 because of our release cycle.
A dfx release goes through a multi-week process, including beta testing, final release, and promotion. The code for 0.29.0 was finalized and cut for its first beta approximately three weeks ago. As a result, fixes merged recently won’t be available until a future release.
Is there a commit in the SDK repo that shows when the cutoff for these releases is?
Every release has a corresponding branch, e.g. release-0.29.0.
In the commit history, you should be able to find an entry like this:
chore: Release 0.29.0-beta.0 (#4332)
That’s when it was branched out from master.
