The reasoning is that the WTN staking rewards are quite low as it started at 3% and is continuously decreasing to 0.24% over 1 year (see here). So given the WTN owned by the DAO (1,148,032 WTN given the 17.5 kICP), this is about 17.2kWTN in one year and after that 2’755 WTN per year. Even if you own 1% of the voting power, you will only receive 27.5 WTN per year (172WTN in the first year) and most people own less than that. So we would effectively be sending dust around and the team believes it’s in the best interest to simply restake the maturity and to increase the voting power of the neuron.
