As we know, stable memory will keep preserve during canister update. So why not use them as a file system? I wonder if anyone is working on or have implemented libc wasi file apis. That will allow most current C/C++ projects can compile to IC without much modify.

Something like GitHub - rafalh/rust-fatfs: A FAT filesystem library implemented in Rust. should be rather simple to port to the IC. I am not sure how much modification it takes to make use existing libraries’s use of the file system go through such a library.

Just a wild guess, but I’m guessing any errors with physical persistence and errors that appear on one replica but not another are handled by the IC consensus protocol and therefore abstracted away from the IC system client.

Indeed…but there’s no way that detect that flaw ( and therefore no way to repair ). If your hypothesis is correct, the flawed replica for that query path is forever shunned by consensus. Oh, I’m sure the IC tracks which nodes have failed disks, and if they remain failed the node provider will face reduced rewards. After all, there’s an SLA that’s enforced on-chain (I think).
