What is the binary representation used to deserialize? Use case: I want to push in binary from outside a canister and then use from_candid to decode it. Ideally, I’d be able to use something in the agent(agent-s) to encode a structure into a Blob and call a canister with that blob. Reason: Perh…

I’m not sure decrypt with ECDSA is a good use case

+1 on @skilesare question. For my part, I’d like to encode a Buffer<ComplexType> into a Blob, send it to another canister, and have that canister decode the Blob back into a Buffer<ComplexType>. If there is a way to do this so that the data fits into an existing binary representation then that woul…

Thank you Paul! I also just finished reading this thread which was very insightful: [image] Motoko Serialization Developers With Motoko, is it possible to serialize any type of object into a Blob so that it can be sent to another canister in chunks and then deserialized …

I think the following is relevant to both questions. NatLabs/serde/blob/564ce06d1f8b45a2d7b15dcfd2df74d05cd698e6/src/Candid/Encoder.mo#L34-L34 public func encode(blob : Blob, recordKeys : [Text]) : Candid { NatLabs/se…

Ahhhh!!! Sometimes something so close to what you need appears out of the ether and just absolutely f-ing makes your day!! @tomijaga Looks like it might be pretty easy to modify this a bit to handle raw candid text like issued in the DFX command. Why would you want this? So you can encode a candi…

In the mean time we can test with didc I think: candid/tools/didc at master · dfinity/candid · GitHub didc encode '("text")' -d hello.did -m greet 4449444c0001710474657874 We just have to figure out what exactly is going to be passed in…if it is vec[nat8] then we’d need to convert that hex output …

Hi @skilesare , I’m glad you are as excited about the library as I am! I like your suggestion to add support for candid text and I’m sure it would be a useful feature for many people. It would be easy to add it to Candid module via fromText and toText fns. The parser for it would be similar to the …

[image] tomijaga: I’m curious to know why generating candid text from outside your canister and adding it to your canister is better for the call_raw function than having the type defined in your canister. Would you not have to generate it each time you want to make a different call to the call_…

I’ve worked on programming languages and written JSON codecs for them. My go-to solution has usually ended up being something like: { "tag": "name", "args": [ … ] } Where you would use an empty array for tags with no arguments like #true and #false, an array of one element for tags with a sin…
