Hello ICP frens. I’m launching my earlystage/MVP game.
What it is: plant a shellfish, it grows over a species-specific window (hours to weeks), harvest it inside the harvest window before it expires, mint $PEARL. Visiting a friend’s cove and boosting/extending/salvaging their crop gives you plot-time back on your own cove.
Token design: $PEARL is a straightforward ICRC-1, 10M fixed supply, minted only through harvesting. Reward per harvest = remaining unharvested ÷ 10M, so it decays smoothly toward zero without ever fully running out. SandDollars (the in-game spend currency) are bought with PEARL at a price that also falls as more supply is minted, so late joiners aren’t priced out relative to early ones.
This reminds me of a cross between those FB farming games and stardew valley.
We did something similar back in the day called Island Paradise where you had an island that you could expand. You could plant stuff that grows and you harvest and have animals that you could collect eggs/wool etc from to craft items that make your island look cooler. Wasn’t a revolutionary game by any means, but it was pretty popular and saved our behinds after the 2008 financial implosion.
One major takeaway from that was that virtual poop was our biggest seller (fertilizer) as it sped up the time it took for something to mature and be harvestable. Maybe you can incorporate something like that? Spend pearl to buy a special shellfish food that makes it insta harvestable?
thanks so much! FarmVille and Restaurant City were actually huge inspirations for this project. I remember so many of my friends creating Facebook accounts just to play those games, and I’m secretly hoping this game can do something similar for ICP (from web2 or ETH/SOL) by giving people a fun reason to create an account and stick around then explore other projects on ICP.
I really appreciate the suggestion too. Insta-harvest items are definitely something i’ll consider (virtual poop saving the company is an amazing story lmao).
And thanks again for the kind words and encouragement; I really appreciate it! Looking forward to Toko release
