Let’s set the record straight yet again…Synapse is not involved with and did not found BoomDAO
ICP Maximalist Network is a chat group on Telegram that was started at ICP genesis. It attracted a lot of people in the ICP ecosystem because it had some very basic rules that were strictly enforced…no price talk, act civilized, and only talk about the internet computer. This led to some awesome conversations and was a great place to meet people in the ecosystem and learn about the IC. This chat group is owned by an individual who calls himself ICPMaximalist. He is commonly referred to as Max.
Max later founded BoomDAO. Members of the ICP Maximalist Network chat group had nothing to do with BoomDAO including myself.
A small group of people in the ICP Maximalist chat group, organized by me, got together and decided we would create a known neuron. It was originally called ICP Maximalist Network because that is where we met.
When ICP governance started to become political, Max decided he no longer wanted his name/brand to be associated with the ICP Maximalist Network known neuron. Therefore, we changed the name to Synapse. Max was not involved in Synapse whatsoever.
After a couple of years of governance participation with Synapse, I realized that ICP tokenomics does not incentivize people to perform the work of reviewing technical proposals that change the protocol even though that was the original intent of the governance rewards. Proposal reviews is real work and requires people with appropriate skills who will only do the work if they are incentivized to do so. Therefore, I founded CodeGov and pursued grant funding so I could recruit developers to review IC-OS Version Election proposals (and eventually other topics). My goal was and is to help advance decentralization of the NNS on technical topics.
