Good point, thanks. I’ve found it under Platform Decentralisation, in the Future Features section - ‘Decentralized virtual personhood validation’. It doesn’t currently have an ‘in progress’ marker, so I guess that answers the question that it’s not currently being actively worked on.
I can confirm that this is not actively being worked on. We had plans to open source the work that was done so far, but it fell by the wayside. If there’s some interest in taking this project up, we could re-prioritize open sourcing this.
Personally I am more interested in learning about verifiable credentials and using Web2 companies to issue KYC credentials. It’s a more obvious answer than people parties to validate personhood, and it also is what the regulators will accept for real world transactions and security tokens.
The roadmap has a date in mid June releasing key features but there was nothing in last months R&D.
Can we please get an update? My understanding is that UTOPIA cannot go live without VCs as we need compliant wallets.
So much agree with this comment here. Let’s focus on solid and conservative identity standards and solutions, using more decentralized, transparent, and interoperable methods.
For example, a Gitcoin-passport style wallet of verifiable credentials that can prove a variety of attributes about its holder, such as KYC status, sanctions compliance, accredited investor status, likelihood of being a unique human.
