[Proposal] Motion to Commission a Due Diligence Report on Motoko Token for Taco DAO
Hey everyone,
I’d like to propose that Taco DAO commission a formal due diligence report on the Motoko token to evaluate it for potential inclusion as a trusted token.
1. Objective
To kick off an official due diligence process for Motoko — a highly active and well-known community token — and determine whether it should be added to the list of trusted tokens in the Taco DAO ecosystem.
2. Background
Motoko has been a major cultural and meme force in the ICP space. Beyond the memes, they’ve put in real work:
- Acquired the BTC Flower DAO
- Building the Toko Market NFT platform
- Working on Motoko Mining
- Have a growing, engaged community that brings new users into ICP
- Strong brand awareness tied to the Motoko programming language
Normally, trusted token candidates go through OpenChat discussion, and from there someone submits a motion for due diligence. I’m suggesting we skip the informal talk and make the ask official now — they’ve more than earned it.
3. Why this matters
This proposal doesn’t mean we list Motoko — it just means we take the time to look at it seriously, gather the facts, and give the DAO something solid to vote on later. It’s a way to show we’re serious about transparency, fairness, and keeping the quality of the Taco DAO token list high.
4. Pros
- Creates a clear, community-backed report for future decision-making
- Highlights a strong ICP-native project with real momentum
- Shows Taco DAO can be both community-driven and structured
- Helps guide new voters and keep governance fair and informed
5. Cons
- Skips the traditional “chat-first” path
- Adds some work for the DAO to put together the report
- Could stir up debate later if the report’s outcome is mixed
6. Key Milestones
- Proposal accepted → Due diligence begins
- Report delivered → Shared with the community
- Optional follow-up vote → Decide on trusted token listing
7. Discussion Leads
Happy to take point on this or work with anyone from the DAO or the Motoko community.
8. Security Concerns
None. This motion doesn’t involve smart contracts, treasury funds, or system changes. Just research and review.
11. What I’m asking of the community
- Read through the reasoning
- Drop feedback, questions, or support in the comments
- If you’re aligned, vote Accept on the NNS motion when it goes live
Let’s do this the right way.
