I was wondering the same, can I talk to the replicas directly without going through the API offered by boundary nodes and can I then setup my own boundary node right now?

According to the Sept Global R&D presentation, the service worker can communicate directly with replicas, without going through the boundary node:
Can someone confirm if that’s true? If so, can other clients (like what @cryptoschindler suggested) also talk directly with IC replicas?

This is a simplified illustration. The service worker still communicates with the boundary node and the boundary node forwards the request to a replica in the specific subnet.
